If we were to choose one right now, we would have slight preference for Quantopian. Quantopian is way more developed and works nicely. Quantconnect, at this point, seems a bit "young in development state". However: I would neither use for live trading. It's an additional instance, which you theoretically don't need. And it can develop itself to be really costly.

QuantConnect also allows for cash rewards for submissions of the best performing trading systems. The only downside is that it costs you a monthly membership to perform live trading. Quantconnect uses C# (is expanding to other languages). It has a much less active community and it does cost money to live trade, however unlimited backtests are still free. I just found it much more finicky to use than quantopian. The reason i used it was because at one time it was better at intraday trading than quantopian but that's changed now.
